Would human settlement of Mars invalidate Bible prophecy?
by truthseeker ini don't think this topic has been discussed before but yesterday i read something to the effect that trump wants a human mission to mars to be completed within his presidency.. with that being said, the watchtower teaches that what started on earth ends on earth, in other words, the fall of adam and eve would end with the passing of the 1,000 year millennial reign when christ destroys all his enemies, rebellious "perfect" humans, and the devil and his demons who are let out the abyss for a short while.
he then hands the kingdom back to his father.
an elder in my old congregation once told us during a public talk that he was an ardent astronomer but then referenced the scripture where it says, "the earth he has given to the sons of men" (psalms 115:16).

United Nations elects Saudi Arabia to Women's Rights Commission
by freemindfade inthe irony would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.
that's right, a country that bans women from driving cars is on the un womens rights commission.
"electing saudi arabia to protect women’s rights is like making an arsonist into the town fire chief," .

Freemindfade,
So... who is going to organize a march around the world with vigna hats and such to protest this ironic stupidity? Anyone?...
*crickets*
The story is worth bringing up but you take it as an opportunity to bash your political opponents even though they haven't had time to react. Since Saudi Arabia isn't within reach of U.S. protesters it's not likely that there will be any marches through no fault of their own.

@waton, Don't forget the stone dome that was laid above the flat earth. They would have had to punch a hole through it. But then they thought that all the stars and planets were magical torches and luminaries inside the dome.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Truthseeker,
...Trump wants a human mission to Mars to be completed within his presidency.
Doing it within his presidency is a surefire recipe for disaster. Four years, even eight, is not enough to get all the bugs ironed out. Too many things can go wrong. An ordinary ship would take 3 years but, if we have the balls to build it, a pulse nuclear spaceship would do it in months.
You need stepping stones before you take a loooong trip like that. Before we go to Mars we should build a Lunar station capable of hosting a pulse nuclear ship (You don't want that thing going back and forth from Earth!) and set up with a small industry to supply the ship. Oxygen from the aluminum oxides in lunar soil as well as aluminum itself for construction. Water can be taken from the deep craters in the lunar north pole.
It is from there that we can go to Mars. One step at a time. That will probably take 20 years to be on the safe side of things.

Cooking With Cast Iron
by Simon ini can't even remember what got me interested in pans, probably wanting to try cooking more and watching some cooking videos on youtube, but i kind of started wanting to get a cast-iron skillet specifically so started reading up on them.
hey, if you're going to spend $50 on something you need to study them and create a comparison spreadsheet ... right?.
not only did cast-iron look great for cooking but there are some studies that show risks to aluminium / teflon cookware ... not that the wts was "right" about aluminium, but teflon can give off carcinogenic chemicals if overheated (so what if it chips off into your food?).

In my Witnessland neighborhood I once saw an entire set of cast iron pans, Dutch oven and one of those long rectangular cooking things discarded by the trash. I thought "Oh great!" but then I saw that they were a little rusty. Now I'm kicking myself in the behind for passing them up. I could have done something about the rust but....

UC Berkeley orders cancellation of Ann Coulter speech
by freemindfade inuc berkeley administrators canceled a scheduled speech by right-wing pundit ann coulter, saying they can’t protect participants from rioting if it goes ahead.
http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/uc-berkeley-orders-cancellation-of-ann-coulter-11084299.php.
now i am no ann coulter fan (although the sjw police on here will accuse me of being a fan shortly after posting this), but i am a fan of free speech!

We have to come to the realization that people like Ann Coulter have been insulting and demonizing those who are on the other side of the divide for decades. While I believe in free speech for everyone in the public arena I would not invite Coulter into my home, business or school. I might reconsider an invitation to the school if there were somebody else representing what those student's political identity is (Liberals?) in a debate framework.
One like for Bw500 on the lack of obligation to include anyone like Coulter. That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with inviting a conservative who doesn't share the views of most students but that would have to be someone who's been known to be respectful of others. Coulter definitely is not one of those persons.

Re-read Animal Farm.
by The Rebel ini was one of many witness children, who studied this book in english literature class.. having re-read it as an adult it addressed so many issues i have with the organisation.
including maniputive control, the re-writing of history etc etc.
so many of the characters in the book, resembled characters i have known in the organisation.. boxer- loyalty without questioning.. squeler- a character who doesn't care about truth, and uses rhetoric of language to twist truth.. clover-who silently questions decisions, but stays loyal.. if your young, or old i would suggest reading this small book, by george orwell.

The most impressive thing about the book is how it can be easily read by children and adults.
My favorite character was Snowball who was run off the farm. Long after he was gone he was blamed for any misfortune that occurred in the farm. This absent scapegoat reminded me of Goldstein in Orwell's book 1984; Obama nowadays (who is being blamed for any silly thing by the alt-right even after he's gone.) and finally, apostates from the WT.

Bungi Bill,
That still requires a stable grid - as do wind turbines.
Why would a network of wind; photovoltaic; concentrated solar power with molten salt or hot sand (They collect energy in the day and have enough during the night to still produce power.) - why would all of these not be able to provide a stable grid? The more varied sources you have, each complimenting the other, the more stability you get.
Also, you may ask the Chinese why they're ramping up their production of windmills by about 50% per year. They already have 3% of their total needs met by windmills. They are also extending their grid to power far off regions in their country.
Bottom line, it's working in other nations.
